Turn off Microsoft Word 2003 Preview Layout

I have to admit I really enjoy the new Microsoft Office 2003 Suite, they have really added a lot of good functionality to the applications. However one thing that always drives me nuts in Word is when a document opens in the Reading Layout format. You can disable this Reading Layout format very quickly in the options of Microsoft Word 2003.

To disable the Reading Layout in Microsoft Word 2003:

  1. Select Tools | Options
  2. Select the General tab
  3. Remove the check mark from "Allow starting in Reading layout"

That's it! See, how easy was that? Don't get too comfortable just yet because Microsoft is now in beta with Office 12 their newest release of Microsoft Office. Rumor has it that there is no menu bar at all in this version. I have a feeling this will upset a lot of users. We will have more information about Office 12 in future newsletters.
